Two ways
On a Mac, you can type in LINE with built-in Dictation or with Jetto Voice
Both work outside LINE: put your cursor in LINE's message box, press a shortcut, speak, and the words are typed in. The difference is what happens after the text appears, and how much cleanup is left for you.
Mac built-in Dictation
Built into macOS, nothing to install. Turn it on in System Settings > Keyboard, then press the Microphone key or the dictation shortcut to start. In supported languages, it adds commas, periods, and question marks automatically.
Jetto Voice
A voice input app for macOS 14 or later. It works in any app where you can type, and LINE is one of the examples on our site. It reads the text in your current window so names come out spelled right, removes filler words, adds punctuation, and sends the message if you press Enter while recording. The Free plan includes 3,000 characters a week.
Built-in Dictation for the occasional sentence, Jetto Voice if you answer LINE messages all day
- You dictate a sentence now and then and don't mind filler words: Mac built-in Dictation is enough, with nothing to install.
- You reply to a lot of LINE messages every day: Choose Jetto Voice. "Um" and "like" are removed, punctuation is added, and Enter sends the message.
- One message covers several points: Choose Jetto Voice. It turns what you say into a list.
- Your messages include names, brand names, or words from another language: Choose Jetto Voice. Words in another language stay as you said them, and it reads the text in the LINE window so names are spelled the way they appear on screen.
Using it in LINE
Text from Jetto Voice is ready to send as is
Who can use it: any Mac that runs the current LINE app can run Jetto Voice
LINE for Mac is a free download on the Mac App Store and currently requires macOS 14.0 or later. Jetto Voice also runs on macOS 14 or later. It works in any app where you can type, including LINE, Slack, Notes, and Chrome.
Clean text: what you say becomes a message you can send right away
Site demo sentence
What you say
um hi Mr. Wang like I wanted to confirm next Tuesday's meeting um can we move it to two in the afternoon thanks
Jetto Voice writes
Hi Mr. Wang, I wanted to confirm next Tuesday's meeting. Could we move it to two in the afternoon? Thanks!
AI removes filler words like "um" and "like" and adds punctuation. If you say "first, second", it turns your points into a list. It also reads the text in the LINE window, so a name that is on screen comes out spelled the way it appears there.
Sending: press Enter while recording, and the message goes out as soon as the text appears
In LINE, press Enter when you finish talking. Recording stops, the text appears, and the message is sent. If you want to check it first, press the shortcut to stop recording instead. The text stays in the message box and you send it yourself.
Tone: the mode you pick switches on when you open LINE
Modes can be bound to an app or a website. Bind LINE to a mode and it applies whenever you switch to LINE, while your email app gets a formal letter style. The same shortcut works everywhere, with no manual switching.
Rewrite and translate: select a message and say "make it more formal"
Select text in LINE's message box, press the shortcut, and say "make it more formal" or "translate it into Japanese". The rewritten text replaces what you selected. Each mode can also have its own spoken language and output language. For example, speak English and get Japanese text, which helps when you reply to a Japanese client on LINE.
Privacy: screenshots stay on your Mac, and audio is discarded right after processing
Screen text recognition runs on your Mac, and screenshots never leave your device. Voice and text are sent to the cloud in real time for transcription and polishing, then discarded right away. They are not written to a database and are not used to train models. Your history is stored on your own Mac.
Three cases where built-in Dictation fits better
- You use voice input only a few times a week: Mac built-in Dictation needs no install and handles the occasional sentence.
- Your Mac is still on macOS 13 or earlier: Jetto Voice requires macOS 14 or later.
- You use LINE on a Windows PC: Jetto Voice is Mac only for now.
Start voice typing in LINE for Mac in four steps
- Download Jetto Voice (macOS 14 or later) and sign in.
- Follow the prompts to allow Microphone and Accessibility access. To use screen reading, also allow Screen Recording.
- Open LINE, click the message box in a chat, press fn to start talking, and press it again to finish. You can also set it to hold fn while you talk and release to get the text. If the Mac dictation shortcut is also set to fn, change one of them first.
- Add the names of people, companies, and products you use often to your dictionary, so they come out right the first time.
